this is just a random question.

when i am logged in, i can see someone's profile- even though they are not my friend. but when i am not logged in, it says that their profile is set to private. what gives? thanks

This is why:

because when you are not logged in, you don't have an identity on Myspace. They do not identify who you are by your IP address or anything like that .. just when you're logged in.

In other words, if you're logged out, you're just like any other person on Myspace that isn't logged in, because the site cannot differentiate that.

If it's set to private that means only people they know can view their profile. However you can submit a request to be added as a friend. Hope this helps.

Here's my theory, you guys are both under a certain age. When you're under a certain age, myspace automatically makes your profile private from people over that age. So when you're not logged in, myspace doesn't know your age so makes that profile private from you.

Just a guess.
