On myspace there are a lot more people who have there profiles set to a public view.

Facebook is a more toned down version of MySpace. It is more dedicated for safety and therefore sets its own boundaries for privacy. You can only view a person's profile if you are their friend, or in the same network. The user can choose to have a public profile, but most Facebook users have common sense in that respect.

They are not set to "private" so to speak. You cannot view someones profile if you are not a part of that community/network. For instance, I am a part of the San Antonio, Texas Network, because I am from there. I can view those people's profiles because they are a part of that community/network.

The reason that so many profiles on Facebook are set to private is because you can say what KIND of people can see your facebook. i.e. you can say only people in your school can see your profile. OR you can set it that ONLY your friends can see your profile; and people of any age can set their profiles to private. On Myspace, however, you do not have to put on your real name, or any REAL information about yourself. Thereby allowing more people to have open Myspaces, and not fearing for their privacy. With Facebook, becuase so much personal information is reveiled, people often want to stay private, so that they are not stalked, hurt, etc. That is why people more often have private Facebooks. and open Myspaces
